Venue: Cowes
Format: Two days of navigational exercises in the Solent. Our annual Cumberland Regatta is recognised as the high point of the Club's social and sailing year.
Cruisers navigate on the Saturday for the Queen Victoria Cup in the morning and the Royal Thames Offshore Challenge Cup in the afternoon, with a stop for lunch in between.
Berths are available on Saturday evening in the Haven at The Royal Yacht Squadron, by kind permission of the Flag Officers.
Sunday sees our Pursuit Exercise for the 1776 Cumberland Cup, the oldest yacht racing trophy in the world.
Provisional Schedule:
Friday: Yachts arrive during the afternoon in Cowes. Limited berths available in the RYS Haven, subject to availability, or on the RTYC pontoon
1830 Drinks followed by dinner, location TBC
Saturday
1100 Start of two NavEx races for the Queen Victoria Cup and the RTYC Offshore Challenge Cup
1300 Lunch between races in the vicinity of Osborne Bay
1800 Cumberland Regatta Drinks Reception onboard a RTYC member's boat
1900 The Annual Dinner of the Cumberland Sailing Society (founded 1775) on the Platform at RYS
Dress Code: Reefers or Lounge Suits
