Format: Sailing, land-based excursions, and dining
The Celebration Excuse is a unique one-off event to celebrate being back on the water. We will gather in the Portsmouth Harbour area on Saturday morning before taking part in a navigational exercise to the beautiful Chichester Harbour followed by sundowners provided by the club and dinner aboard. Sunday will include a walk in the Chichester conservation area before heading home.
NB: All tide times are UTC. +1 hour for BST. HW Portsmouth is HW Chichester -8 Minutes.
Saturday
0930: From Portsmouth we will run a navigational exercise to Chichester Harbour, the winner of which will earn themselves two tickets to the Prize Winners Dinner at which they will be awarded the Festival of Britain Challenge Cup. The Itchenor Sailing Club clubhouse can be accessed by land or by sea and offers a variety of different rooms for those who are driving down and wish to stay the night. Sunday
1000: For those wanting to explore more of the Chichester Conservation there will be an hour walk along the river to The Crown and Anchor pub (book lunch if you would like it). The return journey will be via RIB transfer to ensure all get back in time for the tide.
After this, boats return home.
