Masters Team Racing Round 2 Cancelled
It has been decided to cancel the second heat of the Masters Team Racing Cup due to take place on the 24th April. The first heat was very popular and much enjoyed by everyone who took part. There was also a lot of enthusiasm for the second heat, but unfortunately the date clashed with several other team racing and fleet racing events which meant there was an insufficient number of both masters and academicians to run the event properly as fewer than 8 boats in random pairs does not work. The final will still take place on Sunday 18th September.

The inaugural Masters Team Race Cup is a new event has two Masters (aged 40 and above) on a J/80 teamed up with a highly skilled tactician drawn from the ranks of the Academy and BA Cup teams. There are eight boats available and the format is identical to the Mum’s Bucket i.e. random pairs two boat team racing with no spinnakers.

Eight young tacticians have offered their time so it is up to you to take up the opportunity to compete. The cost is a very modest £40 per member and if you are solo the Sailing Office will endeavour to team you up with a second person irrespective of whether you want to crew or helm. The ideal combination is two Masters plus the tactician but if you have three in your team all are welcome.

This is a unique opportunity to compete against a variety of standards in the random pairs format and at the same time learn the skills of boat speed and team racing tactics from the ranks of the very best young RTYC team racers.
