Social

A large, prestigious Clubhouse in Central London requires a matching Social Calendar. The Royal Thames Yacht Club fulfils this requirement each year by hosting a varied and exciting range of events.

There are the traditional “Black Tie” events that have been held for over a hundred years, such as the Fitting Out and the Laying Up Dinners, and the annual Prizewinners' Dinner.  More recently the Club has introduced Ladies Lunches, the Rally Reunion Dinner, Racers Diner, Christmas Carols and the 'Talks at 60 Knightsbridge’. These are just few of the regular, popular events that take place throughout the year.

New members are also invited each year to meet committee members and others who run the Club's yachting and social events so that they have a chance to find out about all that Club can offer them.

The rest of the Social Calendar is based around members' suggestions. The speakers for the talks at  the Club have almost always been recommended and personally known by members.

60 Knightsbridge is not the only venue for the RTYC social programme. Cowes, St. Tropez, Maine, Antigua, Beaulieu, Crinan, Hurst Castle and Sicily are just a few of the  locations where the members have gathered recently.

The Royal Thames Yacht Club is also a truly royal club. The Commodore, HRH The Duke of York, presides over some events during the year and other members of the royal family are involed on specific occasions. The Club's Patron is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and the Admiral is HRH The Prince of Wales.

The full social and sailing programme for 2013 can be found here so Members can record advance details for the new year in their diaries. Full details of Social Events are displayed on the right hand side - the side bar calendar, by clicking on Social.
