Highland Fling XI wins the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta

Lord Laidlaw continues his support of the RTYC academy by inviting four young members to join his professional race crew aboard Highland Fling XI.  Highland Fling is a Wally 82 no compromise maxi crewed by 24 and capable of speeds exceeding 25 knots. The four young members (Ed Streeter, Amelia Boadle, Joanna Greenfield and Robbie Allam) took part in two Mediterranean regattas, firstly the PalmaVela Regatta in Palma in April where the boat and crew improved over the course of the week to finish 2nd overall taking the win on the final day of racing, and secondly the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Porto Cervo, Sardinia in June where they had a clean sweep of wins in fantastic sailing conditions racing around the islands off Sardinia. Highland Fling won the performance racing class as well as being awarded the Loro Piana Trophy for the overall regatta winner. During the two regattas the four young members were integrated into the professional crew assisting the navigator, trimmers and sewer team.
