New RTYC Member Database – “My Profile”

The maxim of "you only get out what you put in" is never truer than in a members club and that includes the Royal Thames. From December members logging on to the RTYC website will see a new button at the top of the screen called "my profile". By clicking on this button members will be able to record their own sailing experience including the ability of grading their sailing interests and grading their sailing ability against a simple 5 point scale i.e. Level 1 representing little experience and Level 5 denoting a high level of competence. The benefit to members of providing this information is that it allows Event Managers to use the information to better target who they see as being as being the best and most appropriate members to attract to particular events.

The new self completion data base has 4 sections. The first section allows members to update their own contact information and ask how they prefer to be contacted. The second is the sailing interests section followed by the third section that allows other non sailing interests to be recorded. The fourth and final section is a Yacht Register. Members will see some basic contact info has been already entered. Please check it is accurate and if not please update.

There is a guide to completing the database with the opportunity for members to go back and update and amend their profiles as appropriate.

What is important to remember that this database is not for general "Club" publication but to assist the Secretariat and selected Event Managers to communicate with members who have recorded in their "profile" particular interests.

The new database will only be as good as members input so please do take a moment to complete your own sailing profiles.
