Queen's Club v RTYC Challenge 10th & 16th April

The Queen's Club has recently laid down a challenge to the Royal Thames Yacht Club to play them at tennis at the Queens' Club and then to race RTYC in the J80's at the Queen Mary Sailing Club.

The proposed format is that there will be 12 members from each Club, and each member must both play tennis and sail. £35pp to sail and £20pp to play tennis

This is designed as a fun event for all comers. However, to make it competitive, it will be important that our team be reasonably good at tennis as well as being good racers.

The action will take place over two weekends in April:

  • - Sailing (Fleet Racing): Sunday 10th April, at Queen Mary Sailing Club, (TW15 1UA)
  • - Tennis (Mixed Doubles): Saturday 16th April on 3 courts at Queen's Club (W14 9EQ)

The tennis on 16th April will be followed by an evening dinner at either Queen's Club or RTYC Clubhouse if there are enough takers.

On the water, each team will field 3 boats, with a helmsman (or lady), plus a crew of three on each boat.

On court we will be playing mixed doubles in a short match format.

The Queen's Club will select social tennis players (not from club teams) but they'll be good players and will be out to have fun, and of course they'll have to race us on the water.

Please give brief information on your tennis abilities, whether you are a member of a tennis club and whether you wish to attend the evening dinner on the 10th. The dinner will go ahead depending on the uptake.

This should be a lot of fun and is a great opportunity to play some good social tennis at one of the top clubs!
