With eight teams and a full schedule the briefing took place at 08:30 and racing commenced at 10:00.

We had sun and a 12 knot breeze from the west for the first nine races, and then the rain came in and killed the wind, so the last three races were run in about 3 - 5 knots from the NW.

The format of the day was random pairs where your team mate changes every race.  All teams seem to have enjoyed themselves in spite of getting a bit wet during the last three races.  RC Halstead commented ‘What was most satisfying as an observer was that with the odd exception every race was excellent team racing. Gone, gone are the old days of too much fleet racing during team racing events'.  This demonstrates one of the benefits the J80's are having.

The top three teams qualifying for the finals were:

Thanks to PRO David Arnold and his assistant race officers, Michelle Brennan and Peter Schroeder for an excellent days racing and to Rear Commodore Halstead and Doug Harckham for transfers and mark laying and to Freddie Cardew Smith for keeping the J80s going and usual support.
