Mum's Bucket

Heat 1 of the Club's three-stage Random Pairs team racing tournament was sailed on Sunday 4th December at Queen Mary reservoir.

This event gives a chance for individuals and individual team race crews to hone their skills, gain valuable practice and come to the notice of the Selectors when it comes to picking teams for our prestigious Silver and Gold level events.

During the course of the day, the two-boat teams in each match are randomly chosen (hence the name of the event) and race each other. Race 1 might be A+B versus C+D, race 2 will be A+C versus E+F, race 3 B+D versus A+E... and so on.  Each crew scores 1 point for being in a winning team, no points for being in a losing team. The winning crew is the crew that sails in a winning team most often - so this sort of event really does both bring out the best in team racing skills and points up who is best at team racing.
