Home Waters Cruise 28th June - 5th July

The Cumberland Cruise has been introduced to the club's cruising programme this year to create an event that lengthens the time the Cumberland Fleet is assembled each year, can be easily attended by smaller "Solent based" yachts, accompanies members heading west or to France for the Summer and could form a starting point for future Home Waters Rallies.
Following fleet racing in Cowes at the Cumberland Regatta, the 2009 Cumberland Fleet will set sail in a westerly direction from Osbourne Bay and will continue to fly Cumberland pennants until the 4th of July. The preliminary programme takes the fleet from the Solent to Portland Harbour by way of Newtown Creek, Poole Harbour and Weymouth. In Portland we will farewell those yachts that are continuing west toward the Scillies and other Summer destinations. The fleet will then return to the Solent by way of Yarmouth completing its cruise at Bucklers Hard on Saturday the 4th of July, leaving yachts time to find their way back to home moorings by Sunday evening. We will endeavour to sail, discover new places of interest and to enjoy the company of members and their guests both ashore and on each other's yachts.
The cruising committee would like toemphasise that all members and their guests are very welcome to attend all or parts of this cruise and a full itinerary will be posted here as soon as we have confirmation of events. The cruise is organised by John McMonigall and Simon Lavers.
