Royal Solent Perpetual Challenge - REPORT

Any match report that begins with the phrase “it’s not the winning that counts” is not going to be great reading. However, in the case of the Perpetual Challenge ably run by the Royal Solent the Thames attitude was very much about playing not necessarily winning albeit with guns. The team; Gwynne Lawrence, Paul Weeden, Ben Walker, Adam Prese (a helping gun from the Royal Solent) and I made the journey to the Island to fight the local foe in the shape of the Royal London, Royal Corinthian, Seaview and Royal Solent.

The Thames shot consistently but the day was won for the second year by the Solent. Given the proximity of this event to the Autumn Excuse perhaps next year a few more Thames Guns might like to get some early season practice. The Perpetual Challenge is a great event in which I hope the Thames will continue to compete.
