Wine Tasting - North and South,The Rhône Valley — 30 January '12

The Rhône river cuts through an estimated 800 miles of French countryside and, in doing so, defines the landscape and culture south of Lyon.

Along its craggy, windswept banks lie some of France's most famous wine producing départments, including St-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Cornas. There are also plenty of hidden gems and lesser known wonders to explore and, with a grand total of 26 permitted grape varieties, there is plenty of choice.

Members and their guests are invited to join us for an evening of tutored wine-tasting as we navigate down the Rhône river valley - exploring its grapes, styles and enormous depth of character. The evening will be hosted by Charles Taylor, of Charles Taylor Wines, who will share his in depth and detailed knowledge of the region with us. 

We have an exciting range of wines to taste including a 2005 Côte Rôtie, a 2005 Cornas and a wonderful 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape - coupled with some intriguing whites, this will make for a fascinating evening for the senses.

Time: 6.45pm

The evening will start at 6.45pm and be finished by 8pm to enable members to dine in the Coffee Room afterwards.
