Race one of our J80s in Cowes Week

J80s for Cowes Week.

Our J80s have now completed their first tour of duty, as team, match and fleet racers based on Queen Mary Water, and have taken up residence in Cowes with our partners in the fleet, the Royal Yacht Squadron.

All six boats have been entered in Cowes Week, in the Sportsboat class.

The plan is to make the boats available for charter, three to RYS members and three to RTYC members. The opportunity to have a friendly inter-club side-bet would seem too good to miss. 

The cost of the Week's charter will be £1,450.00 and will include the entry fee already paid and the cost of acquiring the necessary extra safety gear, flare packs etc required by the NoR and SIs for the Week.

Members interested in putting together a crew and in chartering one of 'our' three J80s (in fact, we and the Squadron each own 50% of each boat) should email sailsec@royalthames.com to put their name in the hat..  If, as we suspect, the opportunity is over-subscribed a ballot will be held.
