Training weekend for Match Racers, RO's and aspiring Umpires — 13 March '10

13 March –14 March

A two part weekend with something for everyone! A training day on Saturday and chance to put those new skills into practice on Sunday

Saturday 13th

MATCH RACING MASTER CLASS.

We still have six sailing places available on Simon Shaw's match racing class, being held in the J80s at Queen Mary Reservoir over the weekend of 13th/ 14th March.

Simon is one of the UK's top match racers and recently represented the Club at the Seawanhaka Trophy in the US. He will take you through from the basics of match race strategies - stay between your opponent and the next mark - to the finer tactics.

In addition, the weekend will feature guidance from David Arnold, International Race Officer of this Parish, and from David Lees, International Umpire.

The cost of the weekend is £70 per sailor for the two days

The weekend is intended not only for sailors but for any member interested in becoming an umpire or race officer: now that we have our own fleet, our match racing programme is expanding rapidly and with it the opportunity to run events both at Queen Mary during the winter months and on the Solent, from Cowes, in the summer. For all events there are increasing opportunities both for experienced officials and for those who are interested in either management or umpiring. There is no charge for attending the weekend in this capacity - just come along and join in.
