Talk at 60 Knightsbridge 'Fighting Ships' — 25 February '10

H.M.S. Temeraire, one of Britain's most illistrious fighting ships, is known to millions through J.M.W. Turner's iconic painting The Fighting Temeraire (1839), which portrays the battle-scarred veteran of Britain's wars withe Napoleonic France being "tugged to her last berth to be broken up".

Sam Willis tells the extraordinary story of the vessel behind the painting, and the making of the painting itself. This promises to be an enthralling and evocative talk crammed full of exciting details of some of history's most famous fighting ships!
