Additional Information

It is neap tides, so should be an easy trip across, but when navigating over from the West Solent still keep offshore from the race off Barfleur, i.e. don't turn the corner too quickly unless it is slack water. Also try and have some south going tide down the East side of the peninsular, between Barfleur and St.Vaast. It can run quite strongly against you there.

St. Vaast is 72 NM from the Needles and 71 NM from the Nab. With a SW breeze it is often a reach there and back.

You can easily anchor off if you arrive early or late for the lock gate, so long as the wind is not strong from the East to South.

The lock gates are open very approximately (all FST)
