The Royal Thames Yacht Club has been invited to participate in the SMYTHS TOYS GBSC INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE to be held on May 30-June 1st, 2009 in Galway Bay. The regatta will be fleet racing in J 80's.

As winners of the RTYC BMW City Challenge Graham and Julia Bailey and the crew from Allen and Overy sailing team went to Italy as guests of BMW UK Ltd to compete in the final. They came fourth – but had a great time.

We made it this time! After a couple of years when bad weather and blockading French trawlermen forced cancellations, this year a total of seven yachts and some thirty members gathered to celebrate French flair with food.
