TEAMORIGIN's 2009 & 2010 Sailing programme anounced

Monday 5th October, 2009 TEAMORIGIN, the British America’s Cup sailing team, today confirmed its entry in the new Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta to be held in Nice, France. This event, the first of a set of match race regattas, to be sailed in America’s Cup Class yachts, kicks off in Nice in five weeks time (7-22 November 2009) where eight teams from seven nations have so far entered and are expected to compete. The Louis Vuitton Trophy regattas then plan to move on to events in four other venues around the world in 2010. TEAMORIGIN’s entry in the Louis Vuitton Trophy regattas rounds out the team’s extensive sailing programme for 2010, which also includes competing in the Audi MedCup series in TP52 race boats and the World Match Race Tour. This years Patriots Cup Invitation Team Racing event was sailed in 1720's from the Royal Irish Yacht Club.

Our first opportunity to sail what should by then be our new boats will be over the weekend of October 24th and 25th, at Queen Mary SC, West London. This is very much a more-the-merrier weekend, to introduce the boats to as many members as possible.

Ben Ainslie got the gold he's been chasing all week. In the Argo Group Gold Cup final today, the three time Olympic gold medal winner (plus one silver), Ben Ainslie (GBR) took the finals 3-1. He has finally etched his name on the coveted King Edward VII Gold Cup along with a host of match race sailing legends.

Mark Campbell-James shot to outright second place on the all-time winners list claiming a fourth RYA National Match Racing Championship title at Queen Mary Sailing Club this weekend (9-11 October).

In March 2008 RTYC sent a team to compete in the Southern Nichols. We said at the end of that event that we would return in 2010 to race once again and to see the new SYC clubhouse, the previous clubhouse having been lost in Hurricane Katrina.

This event celebrated the joint acquisition by RTYC and the Royal Yacht Squadron of 6 no. J80s to be raced in winter on Queen Mary Reservoir and in summer at Cowes.
